The healing power of the great outdoors

Exercise as Part of Treatment

We know that exercise is important for physical health, but beyond those obvious benefits, staying active also positively impacts mental health. Time in nature can even aid in the healing process. That’s why we provide plenty of opportunities to get active from trail rides and hikes to gym workouts and games of basketball.

Less than one-quarter (24%) of children 6 to 17 years of age participate in 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

Activities

Experiential activities can also have a treatment component to them. Hiking, ropes courses, and equine therapy all provide opportunities to put into practice the tools gained during group or one-on-one sessions. Learning to work with others, communicate effectively, and problem solve are just a few of the benefits.
