The Meadows Difference

What’s In a Name?

The Meadows’ history of healing extends more than 45 years, treating a wide range of age groups and conditions. The Meadows Adolescent Center takes that proven model and applies it to the unique issues this age group faces. Our expertly trained staff, with input from the leading experts in the industry, help teens develop the skills necessary to change what isn’t working and find lasting healing.

Innovative Treatment

Our program isn’t adult curriculum sized down for adolescents. It’s an intensive, experientially based program created specifically for teens with input from industry leaders. We recognize that our patients are still developing, and we use methods proven to help this age group address trauma, addiction, mental health, and family and relational issues.

What Sets Us Apart?

  • Our program was borne out of The Meadows’ decades-long foundation of healing.
  • Our curriculum was created with input from some of the industry’s top experts.
  • Our staff and patients have access to thought leaders in the form of our Meadows Senior Fellows.
  • We don’t just offer trauma-informed treatment, we employ a trauma-focused approach to get to the root of issues.
  • Our low patient-to-staff ratio allows for individualized attention and personalized care.
  • Our on-campus Brain Center provides neurofeedback to improve self-regulation and relieve anxiety.
  • A scenic mountaintop location is a perfect setting for wilderness activities and other outdoor pursuits.
  • Electronic devices are part of life for most teens, so we address technology and help them learn to practice sustainable usage.

Healing is a Process

In today’s complex world, the journey from child to adult can be treacherous. Young people become derailed by a number of factors both within and outside of their control. Our goal is to provide healing from unresolved trauma, addiction, mood disorders, and other co-occurring issues and restore hope and health.

Treatment is a process, one that we begin with a detailed assessment. This helps us get beyond more obvious issues to uncover root causes. We then create a personalized treatment plan that ensures safety, promotes accountability, and provides a sense of ownership of their recovery. As they begin to put into practice what they’re learning, they get feedback from staff and peers, resulting in healing and growth.

Community Life

Treatment at The Meadows Adolescent Center isn’t a solo endeavor. We promote not just independence but interdependence as well. Being part of a community is key, fostering accountability, providing support, improving communication skills, and affirming positive choices. We also use activities and the outdoors whenever possible, an approach that resonates with this age group.

Family Role

Teens don’t live independent lives, they are part of a family, so we believe the most successful treatment approach incorporates family members, too. That’s why you’ll have access to education and resources, take part in extensive family work, and help create a solid aftercare plan to ensure the progress made continues back at home.
